Holding onto summer

I guess this is my transitioning into fall look, considering this is the first time Houston weather has ever felt like anything close to fall.

This outfit is dedicated to all those budget fashionistas out there that believe true fashion isn’t about labels and high price tags.

forever 21 earrings, shirt, purse sunglasses and skirt, New York & Co Blazer, Giani Bini shoes (from ross), thrifted ring, vintage bracelet

Investment Piece: Trousers

At the beginning of every season, I look for pieces that are appropriate for that season and also wearable throughout the year. After looking through tons of designer rtw collections for this fall and upcoming spring, I've decided that my investment piece would be trousers.

Thoughts:
1. Spring colors are still nude and neutrals, which I think are the best colors on trousers
2. You can buy them in any style, whether its high waisted, cropped at the ankle, wide legs or pleated
3. Wearable for work
4. its a nice change from skinny jeans
5. a trend for fall and spring
6. One of those pieces you can dig from the back of your closet instead of having to purchase a pair

DVF rtw Spring 2010

Material Girl

Madonna's daughter, Lola, has a junior line at Macy's that came out yesterday. I really like her style so i was pretty excited about it even though i cant remember the last time i bought something from the junior section =/. Well anyways here are some of my top favorite looks from the collection.

ok....so maybe this isnt for the twenty somethings but I love for my sister, tavy, 16, to check this collection out. I think the collection is very trendy and edgy while still keeping the looks fresh and fun.

Will you be stopping by Macy's to grab a piece or two from the collection?

MID SUMMER TREND ACCESSORIES

Neutrals. camels. whites. soft pastels are all colors for this summer. The look this season is menswear meets picnic pretty. Keep your outfits casual and simple and make bold statements with these accessories.
1.Madeline Straw hat.
This hat is really hot in japan right now. It will go great with any bag on this list or a cute floral romper <3.>picture from forever 21

2. Briefcase as a Handbag
It has this menswear feel to it but still very feminine. I think fashion has played up menswear so much that I think now its just womenswear...like our own version of pieces that used to be worn only by men? do i make sense..? sorry about the ramble hehe..

3. Cross body bag
I think this was the most popular of all trends this season...I've seen this trend on more people than any other accessory. Its easy to wear and gives the perfect " I'm a summer chic" vibe.

4. Drawstring Backpacks
These are really making a comeback this season! I can picture a girl bicycling or going on a boat ride with this on. I think its a nice change from the cross body bags.

5. Basket Totes
Also big in Japan and Europe, These bags are the perfect representation of summer.

6. Oxford Flats
Im loving these but wish they came in a two tone color like sandy brown and dark camel. Im predicting you'll see these through fall too.

7. Strappy Wedges
Strappy wedges are the easiest way to dress up your look. The higher the heel the sexier, the more straps, the trendier.

so what did you think? I am new at this so if you have any comments please leave us some feedback! =)

Next post maybe some of my scrapbooking work or...another fashion one, we'll see ;).

about mel

hello fellow bloggers! This is a lifestyle blog that me and my sister have just started because we needed something to pour our creative juices and thoughts into. My name is Melinda and im obsessed with fashion because to me, fashion is art. So i guess you can say im a pretty artistic person...just like every other women out there, i am experimenting and playing with my art.

My wonderful fiance and I

So im a huge fan of gossip girl style. Costume designer Eric Daman is an inspiration to me, and sometimes the looks itself are so entertaining that i dont even pay attention the story line haha. Well I've noticed that over the seasons, Vanessa's(played by Jessica Szohr) style has become more glamorous than ever yet still keeping that bohemian look.

So stayed tuned for my next blog where i will be showing you how to achieve Vanessa's look from designer to budget friendly.
